Taking its name from the Hindi word for self-progress, Aatma Vikas is devoted to providing pathways to the mistreated and marginalized that allow access to economic empowerment, meaningful employment, restored dignity and transformed futures.
With limited access to education due to low caste status, rural location or gender, many villagers have limited employment options, forcing them into manual labor jobs, slavery and prostitution.
Develop and offer technical and holistic development training that will open the doors to better employment and increased confidence, ultimately strengthening individuals and their communities.
Establish rural and urban training centers, largely run by ‘trained trainers’ indigenous to the communities, and offer self-development and life skills courses focused on topics such as communication and financial education.
I have known Greg since 2005, when he served at IGE as a Research Associate. He has consistently demonstrated a clairvoyance and creativity in thinking about, developing and implementing practical solutions for complex issues. Aatma Vikas continues this pattern, directly engaging the most marginalized of society, equipping them as equal citizens to contribute to the common good. Dignity, social cohesion, and stability result. Everyone wins with Aatma Vikas.
Dr. Chris Seiple, President - Institute for Global Engagement

It’s been over a decade since I first met Greg Matney. From then till now, he’s exhibited two traits that have defined his work and leadership: conviction and determination. He believes strongly in the causes close to his heart and employs enthusiasm and grit to advance them. Investing in organizations is really about investing in leaders. Greg is a leader worthy of investment.
